NEWS April 28, 2011 President's Report Friends and Fellow Hikers, Spring is upon us, and the warmer temperatures lure us into the great outdoors. Please remember that spring in Vermont means mud, and many of the trails are officially closed until Memorial Day to allow the trails to dry out and to reduce erosion of the trails, especially in the higher elevations. A few ideas for spring alternatives are back road walking, the Missisquoi Rail Trail and lower elevation hikes where the trails have dried out. I also enjoy biking both for fun and it's a great gas saver. I hope to see you at our Northern Frontier Section Annual Meeting at the Community Meeting Room adjacent to the Montgomery Town Library on Sunday, June 5th at 6:00 PM. There will be a pot luck dinner and socializing. The meeting will start at about 6:30. If you have anything that you would like to see on the agenda, please contact me at janiewilliams[at]surfglobal[dot]net. Thanks for your support of the Northern Frontier Section. Happy spring, Jane Williams Green Mountain Club This page was last updated April 28, 2011 Top of Page |
