Home : About the High Ponds Farm
The High Ponds Farm is a natural resources stewardship demonstration site located in the Hazen's Notch Area of Montgomery, Vermont.
The High Ponds Farm consists of 400 beautiful acres that feature orchards, pastures, vegetable, flower & herb gardens, forests, wildflowers, streams & ponds - all with spectacular views of the Green Mountains.
The High Ponds Farm produces fruits, vegetables, native perennials & maple syrup on a restored 19th Century Vermont hill farm at the base of Burnt Mountain on the Rossier Road, 2 miles east of Montgomery Center.
This privately owned organic farm is open to the public from May through November, dawn to dusk. Several miles of trails provide opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, nature study and picnicing.
Hike along several miles of gentle woods roads past numerous beaver ponds that support a rich diversity of wildlife. Along the way you'll find places to stop for a picnic and to enjoy the view. Some highlights include the Moosewood Ponds (a complex of four beaver ponds), and the High Meadow with panoramic views of the Jay Mountains.
More rugged trails lead to the summit of Burnt Mountain which offers spectacular views from its open, rocky crest.
Hazen's Notch Conservation Lands
The High Ponds Farm is one of two preserves that make up the 500-acre Hazen's Notch Conservation Lands. The other preserve is the 100-acre Bear Paw Pond Conservation Area.
